It sounds complicated...

...but all of us have dealt with it more than once, for example when paying with a card in a shop, using a monthly ticket in the form of a plastic card or opening the door to a cage or house with a key fob.

What does it consist of?

The Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) system is, telegraphically, a technology based on a small memory transmitter (RFID tag), containing digital data, and a receiver, which remotely reads and records this data. The RFID tag consists of a chip and an antenna attached to it, which uses the energy of the radio wave emitted by the RFID reader. With this configuration, the tag receives the signal from the reader and responds back by transmitting the information stored on the chip.

Due to the range of possible reading, which depends on the frequency of the radio waves, we can divide RFID systems into three types.

LF (Low Frequency)

The low frequency system operates in the frequency range from 30 kHz to 300 kHz. It generates a short read range of 10 cm and its reading speed is lower than at higher frequencies. Used, for example, for pet chips, access cards or payment cards.

HF (High Frequency) .

The high frequency system operates at frequencies from 3 to 30 MHz, with reading ranges from 10 cm to 1 m (e.g. NFC - contactless payment with a smartphone).

UHF (Ultra-High Frequency) .

Operates at frequencies from 300 MHz to 3 GHz, with a maximum read range of 12 m. Used in anti-theft alarm systems, among other applications.

Holding back the waves - a case that protects your money

Michael Faraday discovered in the 19th century that an object constructed of conductive material and hollow inside prevents electric and electromagnetic fields from penetrating inside it. This is the principle on which our case, made of aluminium, works. Electromagnetic waves are neutralised and RFID card tags are unable to make contact with them. Payment cards are therefore protected and secure, something we regularly check and test ourselves.
We have also tested the gradual card ejection mechanism, so we know that the card ejection lever works flawlessly even after 100,000 strokes. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the internal components of the case prevent cards from falling out undesirably, while allowing them to be ejected smoothly when needed.
